Gaia-X Discovery Quest

The Gaia-X Discovery Quest is an Augmented Reality (AR) game that combines digital and real-world activities. The game was designed for attendees of the Gaia-X Summit 2025 and offered a fun and engaging way to explore Gaia-X concepts while participating in interactive challenges throughout the Summit.

Participants used a smartphone or tablet and explored the Summit venue to find and complete a series of AR and real-world challenges. By completing challenges, they earned Gaia-X coins, and leveled up from ‘Data Wizard Level 1’ to ‘Data Wizard Level 4’. Throughout the game participants could win prizes depending on the number of coins they earned.

The Gaia-X Discovery Quest is about learning by doing in an engaging, fun environment. Through the game, participants:

  • ➤  Explored key Gaia-X concepts like trust, compliance, data economy, and interoperability.
  • ➤  Used Augmented Reality to make these concepts come to life.
  • ➤  Turned the summit into an interactive, educational adventure.

Gameplay – How does it work?

The aim of the game was to collect as many Gaia-X coins as possible by completing challenges and level up from ‘Data Wizard Level 1’ to ‘Data Wizard Level 4’.

The game was played using the Gaia-X AR application* on a smartphone or tablet. Through the Gaia-X AR app, participants could complete challenges, earn coins, track their progress and receive vouchers for prizes.

In total there were 10 challenges located throughout the venue, each worth a certain number of coins. The challenges were divided into 2 categories:

  • ➤ 5 AR challenges: Find and scan the challenge code with the Gaia-X AR app to unlock a hidden world and collect coins!
  • ➤ 5 Real-world challenges: Complete a physical task and collect your coins using the Gaia-X AR app!

The challenges did not need to be completed in a particular order.

A leaderboard in the networking lounge was displayed with the top 10 players. Participants had one and a half days to play (until 21 Nov -12:00), but the entire quest could be completed in 20–50 minutes.
