Gaia-X Discovery Quest

The Gaia-X Discovery Quest is an Augmented Reality (AR) game that combines digital and real-world activities. The game is designed for attendees of Gaia-X events and offers a fun and engaging way to explore Gaia-X concepts while participating in interactive challenges throughout the event venue.

Participants use a smartphone or tablet and explore the venue to find and complete a series of AR and real-world challenges. By completing challenges, they earn Gaia-X coins, and level up from ‘Data Wizard Level 1’ to ‘Data Wizard Level 4’. Vouchers earned at each new level unlock prizes!

We chose a magical-themed world to make complex digital concepts more engaging, memorable, and easier to understand through strong metaphors. The fantasy setting helps turn abstract ideas into concrete, story-driven quests. With Augmented Reality, we aim to bring the world of data wizardry to life in a fun and immersive way.

Gameplay – How does it work?

The aim of the game is to collect as many Gaia-X coins as possible by completing challenges and level up from ‘Data Wizard Level 1’ to ‘Data Wizard Level 4’. Vouchers earned at each new level unlock prizes!

The game is played using the Gaia-X AR application* on a smartphone or tablet. Through the Gaia-X AR app, participants can complete challenges, earn coins, track their progress and receive vouchers for prizes.

In total there are 8 challenges located throughout the venue, each worth a certain number of coins. The challenges are divided into 2 categories:

5 AR challenges: Find and scan the challenge code with the Gaia-X AR app to unlock a hidden world and collect coins!
3 Real-world challenges: Complete a physical task and collect your coins using the Gaia-X AR app!

The challenges do not need to be completed in a particular order. You’ll have one and a half days to play, but the entire quest can be completed in 20–50 minutes, so there’s no need to rush! Game-earned vouchers can be exchanged for prizes at the merchandise booth. Good luck!
