Gaia-X Summit 2024: Empowering Global Data Spaces, Shaping Tomorrow’s Cloud Infrastructure

4 November 2024 Brussels, Belgium – Gaia-X is thrilled to announce its 5th Summit, “Empowering Global Data Spaces, Shaping Tomorrow’s Cloud Infrastructure,” on 14 and 15 November 2024 in Helsinki, Finland.

The event will take place at Finnkino Tennispalatsi and is organised in partnership with Gaia-X Hub Finland, facilitated by the Nordic Institute for Interoperability Solutions (NIIS), the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom and our partners Dawex and the Data Space Support Center (DSSC).

The Summit will feature the evolution of Gaia-X technology with the new Gaia-X Digital Clearing House (GXDCH) components under the release name “Loire,” which provides essential tools for automated compliance checking based on the Gaia-X Compliance Document 24.06.

Attendees will learn how Gaia-X enables two sets of interoperability: Legal and Organisational, governed by the Gaia-X Compliance Document and Semantic and Technical, governed by the Gaia-X Architecture Document. “This two-layered approach for interoperability that Gaia-X covers is essential for building trust and efficiency in the Gaia-X-based ecosystem”, added Roland Fadrany, COO of Gaia-X.

In the Gaia-X Trust Framework session, Pierre Gronlier, Chief Innovation Officer (CInO) of Gaia-X, will “explore how trust and interoperability can be built into digital platforms—not just as ideals, but as automated, actionable elements essential for a resilient digital future”.

During the ‘Gaia-X Voices: Use Case Testimonials’ session, we will hear about the services that data spaces seek from providers, including the Gaia-X label they desire and the tasks and features they orchestrate around. “I’m excited to moderate this session and explore key ideas driving the evolution of data collaboration,” highlighted Alberto Palomo, CSO of Gaia-X.

The program then broadens its scope to address globalisation and its impact on the digital ecosystem, presenting the successful deployment of a testbed for a GXDCH in Japan. This milestone marks the first implementation of a Digital Clearing House outside of Europe, highlighting the association’s commitment to its globalisation strategy and fostering international collaborations. “Gaia-X globalisation efforts are setting the stage for international collaboration and innovation. Together, let’s advance global data spaces and create the cloud infrastructure of tomorrow,” stated Ulrich Ahle, CEO of Gaia-X.

During the Summit, participants can explore three dedicated theatres: Economic Theater, Tech Theater, and Partners Theater, each offering focused sessions for deeper engagement with Gaia-X’s various dimensions. “As we prepare for the Gaia-X Summit, I am delighted that we will provide the opportunity to engage in pure technical discussions about the future of data sharing and service ecosystems,” emphasised Christoph F. Strnadl, CTO of Gaia-X.

Additional Highlights of the Summit:

  • Explore how the Gaia-X Digital Clearing House (GXDCH) serves as the operationalisation of the Gaia-X Compliance Document, using the Gaia-X Trust Framework specifications.
