Meet our Endorsed Projects

Meet our endorsed projects, here we present the upper 3 levels of Gaia-X endorsed projects All these projects aim to create a data exchange platform built on transparency, trust and openness. Get inspired by the variety of Projects. They target multiple industries, such as Agriculture, Mobility, Energy, Tourism, Aviation and of course Manufacturing, to name a few. All these projects strive to implement and create a coherent data infrastructure ecosystem. Our endorsed projects and their initial business cases are the front-runners implementing the Gaia-X framework that will equally enable and inspire a comprehensive pipeline of future projects. This is one of the highly converted communities within Gaia-X. The projects are having a monthly intense exchange and collaboration on their way to scaling their Gaia-X Data Spaces.

Gaia-X Lighthouse Data Spaces represent an exemplary level of alignment with Gaia-X principles and standards, signifying a distinguished commitment to advancing digital sovereignty and European value creation. Only Gaia-X Lighthouse Projects have the privilege to submit a request to Gaia-X Association for endorsement as Lighthouse Data Spaces.

Energy

Energy data-X: Energy data-X aims to create a common data space for the German energy industry in Gaia-X. The data will remain decentralised with the data owners but can be provided and exchanged according to the developed compliance rules and in a sovereign manner. This creates the basis for improved energy industry processes and new, innovative data-driven applications and business models. A significant contribution to achieving the German and European energy and climate targets is expected.

GAIA-X4 Future Mobility: A project family located in the mobility domain of the German Gaia-X Hub

The focus of the 6 projects is on the Gaia-X-based implementation of future mobility applications. Due to the product proximity of the applications, data-based networking with manufacturers, suppliers, service providers and users is particularly important. Around 80 players from all application, research and topic areas of mobility, especially information and communication technologies, are involved in GAIA-X4 Future Mobility.

Health

HEALTH-X dataLOFT and TEAM-X (Trusted Ecosystem of Applied Medical Data eXchange) both work on solutions for trustworthy and secure health data spaces that give data owners maximum sovereignty over their own data. Both projects have a lot in common and the motivation for HEALTH-X dataLOFT and TEAM-X are similar. Hence, the coordinators of both projects have decided to work closely together and use synergies as much as possible to implement GXFS/XFSC in the healthcare domain and roll out Gaia-X health data spaces where citizens are in charge of sharing their data in a firm commitment to the European Gaia-X values to shape the future of data sharing through Gaia-X.

Mobility

Mobility Data Space (MDS):The Mobility Data Space (MDS) functions as a marketplace facilitating the exchange of mobility & logistics data, catering to both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) interactions. Furthermore, the MDS also develops sector overarching use cases, interlinking, e.g., the mobility sector with energy, weather, and/or urban planning. The German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) is the founder and majority shareholder of the DRM Datenraum Mobilität GmbH – the operating company of the Mobility Data Space.

Cloud Services

Structura-X: A lighthouse project for European cloud infrastructure endeavours to enable existing Cloud Service and Infrastructure Providers (CSP) data and infrastructure services to be Gaia-X certifiable. The goal is to create an ecosystem of independent CSPs, orchestrated by a shared layer of federation certification and labelling services based on Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). The success will be measured through a set of Minimal Viable Products (MVPs), which shall be fully portable and interoperable between different CSPs and certified by Gaia-X or a delegated certification authority.
