The “Korea-EU Forum for Global Data Collaboration” held earlier this week brought together 200 participants, strengthening data innovation ties between Korea and the EU.
During the event, Song Sang-hoon, Director of Information and Communications Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, announced the plans to take over the hosting role for the Gaia-X Hub, opening doors for future collaboration opportunities.
Ulrich Ahle, CEO of Gaia-X, emphasised the importance of global partnerships, stating, “Close cooperation with Korea’s data ecosystem will significantly contribute to the global data economy. We look forward to expanding partnerships with Korean companies.”
Fredrik Ekfeldt, Minister-Counsellor/Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to South Korea, spoke about the EU’s Data Strategy and the opportunities for stronger cooperation between Korea and Europe. Starting this year, Korean organisations are eligible to participate in Horizon Europe calls, opening up more opportunities for collaboration.
