From vision to impact: women shaping Europe’s digital future

To mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11 February) and International Women’s Day (8 March), Gaia-X launched its 2026 Women in Tech campaign under the theme From vision to impact: women who build Europe’s digital future. Over the course of the campaign, we featured a diverse group of inspiring women, from engineers and data scientists to strategists and CEOs, each contributing in unique ways to Europe’s digital ecosystem. Together, their expertise and leadership are driving innovation that strengthens trusted, interoperable, and sovereign infrastructures across industries and borders.

From Daniela Mockler, who turns community engagement into operational impact, to Agnes Jodkowski, connecting stakeholders and technology to bring European data spaces to life, the campaign highlighted the many ways women are turning collaboration into tangible outcomes. Alexandra Kovalenko and Clara Pezuela demonstrated how strategic partnerships and data-driven decisions transform abstract data into actionable intelligence, while Ariane Assélé Kama showed how connecting stakeholders and aligning governance can unlock concrete initiatives across Europe.

In the technical sphere, Maria Konareva reminded us that strong teams and cloud/DevOps expertise are the scaffolding of a resilient digital Europe, and Alicia Asín closed the campaign with a powerful call for digital sovereignty: “In Europe, we are world champions at writing rules; it’s time we become world champions at building the game.” Her work with IoT and Gaia-X compliant data spaces shows that innovation only truly counts when it is secure, interoperable, and owned by Europe.

Each interview in this campaign showed how women are shaping the rules, tools, and partnerships behind Europe’s digital ecosystem. From governance and technical expertise to data sovereignty, these stories highlight leadership that turns vision into real impact.

The Women in Tech campaign is more than a series of interviews. It’s a snapshot of the expertise and collaboration driving Europe’s digital future.

Happy International Women’s Day!
