Legal Data Space joins Gaia-X to strengthen the legal layer of data spaces

Gaia-X AISBL is pleased to welcome Legal Data Space (LDS) as a new member of the association.

Legal Data Space provides the legal layer for data spaces through three services: governance, compliance, and smart contracts. It turns the legal terms behind data sharing into machine-readable and enforceable rules, so participants can share data knowing that the rules are clear and travel with it.

Recognised by ARCEP as a data intermediary, LDS also works with legal and accounting professional bodies to connect regulated professions to European data infrastructure.

By joining Gaia-X, Legal Data Space brings its expertise in governance, compliance, and smart contracts to a community working to build trusted and interoperable data spaces.

Ulrich Ahle, CEO of Gaia-X, said: “Legal Data Space brings practical expertise on the legal side of data sharing. Their work on governance, compliance, and smart contracts will be a valuable addition to the Gaia-X community.”

Martin Bussy, Co-founder of Legal Data Space, said: “We are delighted to join the Gaia-X community. Our role is to make the legal layer of data spaces operational, through governance, compliance and smart contracts. Gaia-X is where that work belongs.”
