The CEO series: Reflecting on the recent Gaia-X Hub France – Plenary Session # 4

On Friday, 18 March 2022, the French Hub of Gaia-X organised its fourth plenary session, a hybrid event.

This session was organised in Bercy, in the presence of the Director General of Enterprises, Mr. Thomas Courbe who intervened on behalf of Cédric O to present the main strategic orientations of France for the free flow of data.

Gaia-X Hackathon # 3 – Better delivery than ever

This year’s Gaia-X Hackathon #3 was focused on the creation and validation of Self Descriptions.

More than 350 highly skilled professionals virtually gathered across Europe, working together jointly in the following tracks (areas of interest):

European cloud solutions: innovation compliant with our values

Is it possible to offer open and transparent European cloud solutions that comply with European values and remain competitive? A panel of public decision-makers and representatives of the private sector were invited by Orange to give their thoughts.

Hackathons – a way to cut to the chase: moving from concepts to code

The concept of interoperability between European clouds are not just a list of sovereign principles on paper. Gaia-X is to achieve interoperability between different European sovereign clouds.

It aims to build an open, transparent, and trustworthy data infrastructure based on European values, security and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). A “combined system of existing cloud providers” will support that data can be merged, migrated and shared securely from one to another without barriers.

EuProGigant reaches important milestone

The second EuProGigant milestone meeting took place on 10 March, in Darmstadt. The meeting focused on the progress surrounding, resulting use cases, and how the project represents a Gaia-X compliant ecosystem with a concrete business model and associated requirements.

Why We Still Find It Difficult to Create Value From Data

Silicon Valley invented the Internet and the cloud – and thus the infrastructure for the data economy of the 21st century. And what does Europe bring to the game? We contribute our political know-how: for a federation with fair rules, reliable standards and public technology.

Member story: Électricité de France

At Gaia-X, established large companies rub shoulders with young start-ups. State institutions, associations and research institutes support the project with their expertise. One of the members of the Gaia-X Association is Électricité de France (EDF). We spoke with Martine Gouriet, Digital Uses Director at EDF, about her involvement within Gaia-X. She is a member of Gaia-X’ Board of Directors and leader of the Data Space working group “Energy”.

Why artificial intelligence is of high importance for Gaia-X

During our web seminar “Speeding up Industrial AI” the position paper “Speeding up Industrial AI and Trustworthiness” of the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) was presented. It introduces a comprehensive industrial and trustworthy AI. The scope of the paper includes tools and methodologies that support the design, test,
