Gaia-X Revolutionizes Compliance at the Tech-X Conference & Hackathon in Luxembourg

24 May 2024, Luxembourg – Gaia-X, the European initiative for a secure and federated data infrastructure, proudly concluded the second edition of the Tech-X Conference & Hackathon in partnership with Gaia-X Hub Luxembourg. The event, held at the first EU Parliament in Luxembourg, brought together tech developers, programmers, business and product developers to explore and innovate within the Gaia-X ecosystem.

“Tech-X 2024 has demonstrated the immense potential of a secure and federated data infrastructure,” said Pierre Gronlier, CTO of Gaia-X. “By leveraging the Gaia-X Trust Framework and fostering open-source solutions, we have made significant strides in enhancing user experience and compliance validation.”

Ulrich Ahle, CEO of Gaia-X, emphasized the importance of data standards and collaboration: “Interoperable data spaces based on a federated cloud infrastructure enable the next level of digital transformation. The success of this event highlights how Gaia-X is spearheading digital innovation across different ecosystems.”

Ralph Hustadt from Gaia-X Hub Luxembourg, Luxinnovation GIE added, “Sovereignty means fostering local talent and homegrown technologies. It’s about creating an environment where startups can thrive without having to bow down to external monopolies. It’s about nurturing a tech ecosystem that’s vibrant, competitive, and independent. When we have control, we can push the boundaries of what’s possible, driven by our own vision and creativity”.

Yassir Sellami, Software Developer at Gaia-X stated that the event “had very insightful presentations from speakers coming from various ecosystems bringing technical innovations into Gaia-X. It was a pleasure to talk about the ODRL Profile that links one the most used policy expression languages with the benefits of Verifiable Credentials. Now, we can focus on bringing it to market with a state-of-the-art technical implementation.”

The hackathon showcased the brilliance of the tech community, with three standout teams winning the competition. The hacks featured projects in the Advancement of the LinkML based CI Infrastructure of Gaia-X Working Group Service Characteristics, the Gaia-X LLM Integration for Enhanced Experience, and nonetheless the 1st place winner of the Hackathon, the Team G.R.E.A.T. with the project of Cloud Federation with Gaia-X for SME-Cloud Service Providers based on K8’s and Liqo.

Speaking about the projects, Ewann Gavard, the Technical Leader of Gaia-X stated “It’s been a pleasure to witness vivid innovation and development around Gaia-X. The hackers tackled real life use cases and hassle for the Gaia-X community in their day-to-day usage of Gaia-X.”
