In a landmark move to reshape the digital landscape of the Caribbean, Blue NAP Americas, Cloud Carib Limited, and Gaia-X have announced a strategic partnership during CANTO 2025 in Nassau, Bahamas.

This alliance marks a significant step toward building a federated, sovereign digital ecosystem that supports secure connectivity, regional innovation, regulatory compliance, and local economic development. The partnership leverages the core strengths of all three organisations to deliver a platform built by the Caribbean, for the Caribbean, with global standards like Europe’s GDPR and local and regional relevance.

By combining the Tier IV-certified infrastructure of Blue NAP Americas, the secure managed cloud and cybersecurity expertise of Cloud Carib, and the federated data governance framework of Gaia-X, the partnership delivers a comprehensive platform that empowers governments, enterprises, and institutions across the region.

“With more than 500 industry certifications across our teams, the alliance has the technical depth and global credibility to go toe-to-toe with the largest hyperscalers,” said Blue NAP Americas CEO Giovanni King, “while staying committed to sovereignty and regional priorities.”  Simply put, this means Gaia-X sets the rules for safe data sharing, Blue NAP Americas provides a secure home for that data, and together they enable the Caribbean to run trusted digital services for healthcare, education, finance, and government on its own terms, with global standards and local control with managed cloud and cybersecurity expertise from Cloud Carib.

“This isn’t just about technology, it’s about putting control, capability, and confidence back in the hands of Caribbean organisations, built on Caribbean expertise and driven by Caribbean interests,” said Cloud Carib COO Victor Kovacs. “It proves that small island nations can deliver world-class, sovereign digital infrastructure, while enabling security without compromising sovereignty. Caribbean control of Caribbean data. As Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley noted, we face growing risks from misinformation and misuse of technology, which threaten the stability of our democracies,” added Kovacs. “This partnership lays the groundwork to not only validate truth but strengthen citizen security and ensure our region can navigate the digital age on its own terms.”

Giovanni King (CEO, Blue NAP Americas), Roland Fadrany (COO, Gaia-X), and Eamonn Sheehy (Senior Director, Public Sector, Cloud Carib) participate in a high-level panel discussion at the CANTO Caribbean Conference. The session, titled “Building a Caribbean Gigabit Society through a Federated Cloud,” was moderated by King and explored strategies for enabling secure, sovereign digital infrastructure across the region.

One of the most pressing challenges in the Caribbean is access to digital resources, not just infrastructure, but highly skilled expertise. This partnership also brings together one of the largest pools of cloud and cybersecurity professionals in the region, equipped to drive secure digital transformation across key sectors including government, healthcare, finance, and energy.

Gaia-X’s involvement brings international credibility to the partnership. Backed by global organisations such as Airbus, Bosch, and Deutsche Telekom, Gaia-X only collaborates with partners capable of upholding the highest standards for data sovereignty, security, and interoperability.

Their participation signals that the Caribbean is not only ready to meet global expectations but also to lead in setting a new standard for digital trust and governance. “The fact that Gaia-X is investing in the Caribbean is a clear vote of confidence in the region’s maturity and readiness to compete on the world stage,” said Gaia-X COO, Roland Fadrany “This alliance is not only regional, but also globally significant.”
