What we do

Gaia-X strives for innovation through digital sovereignty. Our goal is to establish an ecosystem, whereby data is shared and made available in a trustworthy environment. Our intention is that we give the control back to the users by retaining sovereignty over their data. Our outcome will not be a cloud. It is a federated system linking many cloud service providers and users together in a transparent environment that will drive the European data economy of tomorrow.

Vision & Mission

VISION: Enable trusted decentralised digital Ecosystems

MISSION: Creating the de facto standard to enable federated and trusted data and infrastructure ecosystems, by developing a set of specifications, rules, policies, and a verification framework

What’s in it for me?

Gaia-X empowers businesses, individuals, and governments with secure, transparent, and sovereign control over data through a decentralized cloud infrastructure. By participating, you gain access to a trusted ecosystem and the community that fosters innovation, collaboration, and scalability across industries, all while ensuring compliance with European and local regulations. Participants benefit from driving data privacy innovation, interoperability, and the ability to shape digital transformation.

Motivation

  • Growth and Scalability: SMEs seek to grow their businesses by leveraging advanced digital services without compromising data security or sovereignty.
  • Compliance: SMEs need to comply with regulations like GDPR while remaining competitive.
  • Cost Efficiency: SMEs require affordable solutions that don’t compromise on essential features like transparency and data protection.

Pain Points

  • Limited Resources: SMEs often lack the resources to manage complex IT infrastructures or navigate intricate compliance requirements.
  • Data Sovereignty: Concerns over data being stored or processed outside Europe, leading to potential legal and compliance risks.
  • Vendor Lock-in: Fear of being locked into a single provider, making it difficult to switch services or scale.

Benefits of Gaia-X
